ONES BEACH, KIAMA (Saturday, 26 October 2019): Elouera Boardriders have claimed their second nudie Australian Boardriders Battle event in as many years, dominating the competition today in punchy offshore conditions at Jones Beach.

Anchored by former World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT) Rookie Of The Year Connor O’Leary, Elouera lit up the one-to-two foot surf consistently posting scores in the excellent range. With the collective effort of team members Shane Campbell, Jarvis Earle, Rachel McKendrick, O’Leary and Luke Weinert, Elouera was able to finish the final with solid 38.25 total to gain the upper hand against their fellow finalists.

“To win this event twice in two years is a dream come true,” said O’Leary. “The whole team put on some awesome surfing, especially our grommet Jarvis who posted a 9.07 in the final which was the highest of anyone in the team. I can’t wait to get to Newcastle next year for the National Final and compete against clubs from all around the country.”

Second, third and fourth place finishers Bondi, Culburra Beach and Scarborough all showed moments of brilliance in the final but were unable to chase down Elouera and finished the final with heat totals in the low-to-mid 30-point range.

Elouera, Bondi and Culburra Beach all qualify for the National Final next year.

Now in its seventh season, the nudie Australian Boardriders Battle is the country’s biggest grassroots boardriders event, involving more than 60 of Australia’s best boardrider clubs and $110,000 in prize money.

The series is officially sanctioned by the World Surf League (WSL), which allows Australian WSL World Tour surfers (Men and Women) the opportunity to represent their local boardriders club at respective State qualifying events and the National Final.

Adding to the high stakes at the State qualifying events will be two speciality awards. The Oakley Prizm Performer will be awarded to the standout surfer, while the AirAsia Big Air will be presented to the surfer who does the biggest and best aerial maneuver at each event.

The 2019/20 nudie Australian Boardriders Battle is proudly supported by nudie, Oakley, Woolworths, Hyundai, AirAsia, 2XP, WSL, MySurf.Tv, Fox Sports and Surfing Australia.
