NEWCASTLE/NSW (February 15th/2018): More than a dozen current and former World Surf League (WSL) stars will contest the 2018 nudie Australian Boardriders Battle Series Final at Newcastle Main Beach this weekend, February 17-18th.
World renowned free surfers and World Surf League (WSL) stars like WSL Women’s 2 x World Champion Tyler Wright (Culburra), Nikki van Dijk (Phillip Island), Wade Carmichael (Avoca), Adrian Buchan (Avoca), Connor O’Leary (Elouera), Keely Andrew (North Shore) and Bronte Mcaulay (Margaret River) will join the likes of Ryan Callinan (Merewether), Kai Otton (North Steyne), Creed McTaggart ( Margaret River), Mikey Wright (Culburra), Luke Egan ( Merewether), Mitch Crews (Snapper Rocks), Macy Callaghan ( North Shelly), Soli Bailey (Byron Bay), Mitch Parkinson (Snapper Rocks), Jay Thompson (Burleigh), Shaun Cansdell (Coffs Harbour), Ethan Ewing (Point Lookout) and Bede Durbidge (Point Lookout).
With good sandbanks and a two metre North East swell forecast, pumping waves are on the menu for the two days of first class surfing.
The 24th club to gain entry into the National Final will be the winner of the nudie Trials on Saturday 17th February, the final qualifying opportunity for clubs in the Newcastle region for the last Wildcard position.
The nudie Australian Boardriders Battle Series Final will be live on Channel 9’s GO! channel on Sunday 18th February from 1 pm – 5.30pm in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, and on a 1-hour delay for Perth 11:00 am- 3: 30 pm.
Fox Sports More (Channel 507) will broadcast the entire weekend live from 8 am – 6 pm daily.
If you miss the live broadcast, be sure to catch all the National Final highlights in a dedicated 30-minute TV show scheduled for April 1st at 1 pm on Channel 9 for Sydney/Brisbane and 1:30 pm for Melbourne/Adelaide and Perth viewers.

nudie Trials Winner
The nudie Australian Boardriders Battle is officially sanctioned by the World Surf League (WSL), which allows Australian WSL Championship Tour surfers (men and women) the opportunity to represent their local boardriders club at respective state qualifying events as well as the national final.
The purpose of the nudie Australian Boardriders Battle program is to build the profile and capacity of community boardriders clubs Australia-wide. In the past four years, Surfing Australia has invested over $600,000 into Surfing Australia affiliated boardriders clubs as part of the nudie Australian Boardriders Battle series.
